Other Legend Of Zelda Games On Switch
Thankfully, while we all wait for Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 to appear, there are plenty of other Zelda games on Switch. We'd happily recommend any of the following, although the original Breath of the Wild is naturally an essential pick to prepare yourself for the sequel.

Would you look at that ...A triple A game that's not £70/€80! What a concept!
Edit: Well, this comment sure aged like a fine wine, didn't it?
Love that box art but I'll wait for the CE or whatever to be announced.
Beautiful box art. May can't come soon enough.
You mean ANYWHERE
This game is gonna be a religious experience for us zelda fans
I'll wait for a Collector's Edition because I promised myself that this game would be the first one of those I buy.
Think I'll wait for the deluxe, complete, gold, whatever they want to call it edition.
Also, what if they announce Switch 2 in February for a May 12th launch and I don't want the Switch version of this game. Then I can own BotW on Wii U and TotK on Switch 2 and own neither of the Switch's best 2 games on Switch.😂
Got my pre order in. Now I can forget about it for a while
Tears of the kingdom? More like tears of joy! Well i better get back to breath of the wild while i wait!
@Peterchu Same situation here!
I'm not pre-ordering until Nintendo shows what they're fixing from the original, instead of what they're adding. Weapon durability, all the cutscenes taking place in the past rather than around you, uninteresting enemy and boss designs, and rain impeding your progress up a mountain... I suppose if jumping into the sky is easy enough, that last one won't be a problem, but as the goblin under the bridge who doesn't like Breath of the Wild as much as older Zelda games, I'd like to see what this game is doing better than its predecessor.
Bored of the Wild 2...
Guess we're stuck with these bland open world not-Zelds games for good huh? RIP Zelda, may the brave little fox from Tunic continue your journeys while Link runs around in boring open worlds.
@KayFiOS I hope they "fix" none of those (beside the cutscenes, but that was part of the story, man!). all of this is exactly what made breath of the wild so good!
@SteamEngenius I have a feeling that the older type traditional dungeons will be returning, think positive
@mazzel I understand that having the cutscenes take place in the past was part of the story, but not having any story happen after the king tells you to go save Zelda? I found that incredibly dull! All the interesting crap already happened and now you're just faffing about until you beat the game. The cutscenes that do happen aren't voiced or nearly as cinematic as the memories. Hearing Kohga in Age of Calamity just made me want him to be voiced in Breath of the Wild that much more!
Not only will this get delayed again for sure to holiday season, but it better get a collectors edition.
@KayFiOS you have some valid points. however, I really didn't miss it that much during my playthrough. I enjoyed that game so damn much, the only thing I would criticize is the soundtrack. actually not the soundtrack itself, but somehow the music was not as present as in previous entries.
But everything else fit so nice together, it's incredible
I know many people complain about the weapons breaking and so on, but for me it gave the game this "complete" touch. so much love for details if you like to see it
I want a collector's edition and I want it now!
lol that reveal trailer didn’t make me think,” oh man, May is coming fast! Better pre-order ASAP.” Slow down… Plenty of time.
@mazzel I think the thing I disliked most about Breath of the Wild was 100% completion being tied to 999 Korok seeds, half of which amount to earning a piece of golden crap. I usually enjoy going for 100% completion in any other Zelda game, Breath of the Wild really made me angry in this regard. All they have to do to fix that is tie Korok seeds to a skill tree; one that gives you bonus perks like being able to climb in the rain a bit easier, increasing weapon proficiency for added durability, or letting your abilities recharge more quickly, in addition to increasing your inventory slots. Maybe in practice it wouldn't be such a good idea, but at least in my head, this is what I would like to see if those 999 little wooden demons came back.
@KayFiOS "little wooden demons" 😂
I also gave up on them... got around 700 or so in my playthrough a d was satisfied. I would also use a guide to find all, so it would just be a chore...
let's see what they will have offer for the next one! my main hurdle will be "no time" since life circumstances changed since breath of the wild 😜
Why do Canadians have to wait to pre-order this? Meanwhile it's available in the US and UK....
@KayFiOS
Agreed, it is horribly overrated. I've long since realised that most of my enjoyment with it was actually due to playing it during the honeymoon period of the Switch hardware itself (which I got on launch day).
A far cry from the masterpieces of the series like GB Link's Awakening, ALTTP, OoT, MM and Wind Waker.
@Vil I have some bad news for you.
@TLink9 Just saw it lol
Damn you're fast!
Haha that first comment aged like milk 😂
I couldn't wait for the Switch release so I preordered on XBOX X from Gamestop. Gamestop let me know that it's coming 3 days late! Just gonna have to do some barrel rolls to avoid spoilers.
Playing Botw now so i wait to order until autumn.
Just hope that it will not feel like the same game when its the same map even if there is sky things.
Honestly, $69.99 is a bit too much for a Nintendo mobile game. (Their words, not mine!). Just as 3DS, DS, GBA, GB, games would never sell as much as their console games. I used to spend $69.99 on brand new N64 1st party games, as did many others). This just seems a bit much, and mainly because Nintendo takes YEARS before they'll even consider lowering a price on their 1st party titles, where as a Spider-Man, Ratchet & Clank, Returnal, Uncharted 4, will drop by as much as 50%, in a few months.
More scare mongering for UK folk. The standard price is £59.99, as it was for BotW, it will not be going up a further £10 to £69.99.
It's also available via Game Voucher (£84 for 2 games).
I won't be pre-ordering the game, happily wait as long as it takes until I see it floating online for $50 New or cheaper.
The Game Collection is £49.99
(they did bump it up to £60 just after the Direct, but then brought it back down).
So I preordered there just now at the £50 price point and then used my accumulated points from previous orders to get it for £31.
Honestly cannot complain one bit, getting Tears of the Kingdom for that price!
GAME UK has the Collector's Edition listed for £109.99
https://www.game.co.uk/en/zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom-collectors-edition-2732228
They list the standard edition for £59.99, a price I'm willing to pay for the standard game, but the collector's edition is a little pricy.
@RupeeClock Already out of stock apparently. To be fair, now that I look at the contents, and given that I am still unsure about the game, I might just pass for now.
@MS7000
I expect it'll get listed on the My Nintendo UK Store in the near future, but they are notorious for giving no notice on pre-orders opening, and getting deliveries wrong and having difficulty just placing the order on their site.
Found it for £44.99 on Electric Games .co.uk website.
Says they will accept that price for February!
The Nintendo Store have not sold them yet, if you register your interest here and set your notifications to send and receive emails and get pinged when Nintendo email you, then you may have a chance https://store.nintendo.co.uk/en/the-legend-of-zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom
I missed GameStop Online so now have to wait for In-Store preorder but I did also preorder 2023 Link Amiibo at GameStop and BestBuy for now. Now the waiting game. Got Standard TOTK GameStop and Amazon but at Amazon my Price isn't the $70 smacker it's only $59.99+tax.
It looks like My Nintendo UK Store have put up preliminary listings for Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime Remastered, and Pikmin 4.
Edit: These listings are now live. Still no listing for the collector's edition or the amiibo.
Just got a special edition from Shopto. keep on refreshing and you might get lucky.
Collector’s Edition more than 200£ on eBay... 😡😫
@danielgpruiz
Collector's edition available for £109.99 on GAME right now.
https://www.game.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product2_10151_10201__44____ProductDisplayErrorView?productId=2732228
Edit: My bad, it started displaying "Pre-order now", but clicking the button tells you it's not actually in stock...
@RupeeClock it actually worked for me around this time, on my 5th or 6th attempt of clicking pay it went through
@hylianticipated
So you just kept trying and it worked? Blimey, I tried it a few times too, go figure!
@RupeeClock yeah that's right! Tried a few times with my PayPal, didn't work and said out of stock once I clicked the final buy button. Then tried a few times with my card and didn't work, again said out of stock once I clicked the final buy button. Then finally it worked on maybe my 6th attempt. After each attempt it made me go through the checking out process again including delivery details and payment etc., but I did not have to add it back to my basket each time.
@TLink9 @LocalPenguin £70/€80 would actually be the equivalent of US$85. But saying that, it is important to remember that in the UK and other European countries, sales tax in already factored into sales prices. So with that in mind the UK price of £59.99 - tax (20%) = £49.99, which exchanges to around US$60. So seeing as sales tax isn't already included in US prices, it seems the new US$69.99 price for TotK is OTT 🧐 But then again BotW and SSBU have always had a higher price compared to all other full-priced first party Nintendo Switch games, which has never been the case in US. I guess Nintendo just decided that US should now have a higher premium price like other countries
Forget being out of stock, in my country the collector's edition simply doesn't exist.... Not listed on Amazon or GameStop.... Or even on Nintendo 's site.....
Not the first time either. Do only English speaking countries (and Japan?) get collector's edition nowadays?
Anyone else from Europe with the same problem?
@Kytan
Here in Germany you can pre oder it via Amazon.de
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0BVBNDRL9/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?crid=1G24DZLU6AE7N&keywords=zelda+ttr%C3%A4nen+des+k%C3%B6nigreichs+collectors+edition&qid=1676314888&sprefix=zelda+te%2Caps%2C115&sr=8-2
Oof, NLIFE5 is the code now? Rough. I mean, of course I'll use it, but rough.
@NintendoPete So it's just us? Nice...😒
Thank you for the link, but apparently they REALLY don't want to sell it here, it says it can't be shipped to my country....
@Kytan
That sucks but honestly, I think that the collector's edition is totally overpriced and not worth it. If they would have included a hardcover guide - well that would have been awesome. But just a steelbox, pins and a poster? Sorry, that's more than lame
Hi, Do anyone know if the collector's edition on UK Amazon is alreadysold out or haven't be in stock yet? Thanks😢
@Trifle123 it sold out 😢 there was an error that kept saying it can't ship to my address, and others I saw on twitter had the error too, and then it sold out whilst I was trying repeatedly. There may be a slight chance there's a restock so keep an eye out.
@hylianticipated Thank you so much😢so is there any more chance from other retailers? Or maybe the Nintendo online shop is the last one? (Had a really bad experience with their email registration when trying to buy the collector's edition of xb3)
@Trifle123 I'm not sure. I just keep checking back at Smyths, Game, The Game Collection, and Shopto. Not sure if SimplyGames will get any in, and I also keep checking Argos because I expect them to potentially get some. Keep checking Amazon too
Yeah the XB3 pre-order was a mess. Really hoping it isn't the same when they finally make this one live on their site!
@hylianticipated
Thank you so much! Will keep an eye on these websites too. Good luck😉
@NintendoPete includes hardback artbook too
Best Buy had the collectors edition available for about 30 seconds...
@Moose_4 That's on par with Australia's cheapest price. £60 is crazy. That's AUD 104. USD 70 is around the same.
Poster and pins are fillers, but I guess the artbook's worth it
Collector's and FOMO come to mind. I'd have preferred a cheaper Limited edition. It's vaguely similar to that of Link's Awakening Limited Edition minus the pin badge. I also have the Majora's Mask Limited which has a pin badge.
I'm really not sure what the big rush is on the Zelda CE to make it sell out everywhere.
It's really poor value and even as a big Zelda fan, I just can't see the appeal. I can only assume it's scalpers doing the majority of the pre-ordering.
I managed to secure a collector's edition. I wish it included a CD or something else but I know I'll get my moneys worth from this game.
@The_BAAD_Man I agree, really wish it included the soundtrack on CD
@hylianticipated Or at least a selection of songs! Or perhaps the new Link amiibo packaged in.
@The_BAAD_Man yeah exactly! Although I know they'd never pack the amiibo in
@hylianticipated A shame, really. Twilight Princess on Wii U done it, so there was a bit of hope.
@The_BAAD_Man that's true.. but I don't think they'd do that now with Switch selling the way it does compared to Wii U
@hylianticipated Good point Oh well...we have the game to look forward to! Excellent username, by the way
@The_BAAD_Man yep, I can't wait, 4 years of hype! And thanks, it sums up TotK.. it's highly anticipated 😃
My number 1 Nintendo franchise is Pokemon, which often has big release events but rarely has its games/collections fully sold out within minutes of the stock update. It feels really bad to not actually be able to participate in this hype pre-release/pre-order fiesta for TotK. My empathy to those whose franchises regularly experience this kind of bottleneck.
@NintendoPete I would have paid 150€ for this steelbook alone, the best I have ever seen in any video game
@mezoomozaa
Honestly? Why? Maybe I am more interested in the game itself - it would never cross my mind to pay so much for a box. But to each their own.
@Vil this aged well
@FierceVinegar Yup lol
A new notice message has been posted on the My Nintendo UK Store website:
"The register your interest campaign for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition and Link (Tears of the Kingdom) amiibo has now ended. Those who registered will receive pre-order information via email."
This suggests that pre-order notification emails will be going out this week, possibly even today.
As usual, the pre-orders will probably go live the instant the emails start dispatching.
I've already just preordered the standard edition on Amazon.
Preordering always felt like a mugs game to me. We have zero idea if it's actually any good or not.
Im sure it's great.. But why risk it?
New bundles have started appearing on the My Nintendo UK Store.
https://store.nintendo.co.uk/en/the-legend-of-zelda-bundles
All orders now include a bonus collector's coin and luggage tag, and there are new bundles that include a collector's medal in box, a notebook, or both.
This update in listing suggests they could be opening pre-orders for the collector's edition and amiibo in the near future.
There isn't much of a reason for me to pre-order this game since in my region, even popular titles tend to not sell out, and I don't have any desire for a collector's edition of any game. I have gotten kind of burnt out on those. I will just grab it at one of my local game stores when it comes out and enjoy it.
The Link TotK amiibo has appeared on Game.co.uk for a sane price of £14.99
https://www.game.co.uk/en/amiibo-link-tears-of-the-kingdom-2905917
This was previously listed on Amazon for around £30.
Keep in mind that GAME online orders are typically subject to a £5 delivery fee, regardless of order size.
Argos UK has listed the collector's edition for £139.99, as spotted by @1UP_MARIO
https://www.argos.co.uk/product/2075370
