With only a few short weeks left now until the 3DS and Wii U eShops close for good, you would be forgiven for thinking that the outlets' range of new content would have halted too. You would, however, be wrong as it has just been confirmed that a brand new title in the Silver Falls series — Silver Falls: Gaiden Deathly Delusion Destroyers — will be launching on the North American 3DS eShop on 9th March.
The latest release from Sungrand Studios will come bundled with another unique title, Silver Falls: Ruby River, and will be available for the single payment of $16.99.
Due to a problem with the upcoming title's release state, the developer has made an agreement with Nintendo of America and will be releasing the bundle with the promise of an update patch coming swiftly after. This means that the game will, unfortunately, not be available for players outside of North America.
This bundle follows the release of the studio's two Wii U titles last month, Silver Falls - White Inside Its Umbra and Silver Falls - Undertakers. With the Wii U and 3DS eShops closing on 27th March, there isn't long left to pick up these new titles, but we are relieved to see them getting an official release all the same.
Having announced the games' surprise release on Twitter, the studio's sole developer uploaded the following video to the Sungrand Studios YouTube account where he thanks NOA for its patience and lets us know what to expect from the final batch of horror/survival titles on the 3DS:
New 3DS titles are pretty few and far between these days, so if you are up for one final eShop adventure (and find yourself in NA), then this bundle could be worth a shot.
What do you make of this last-minute reveal? Let us know in the comments.

Congrats to Jerrel, so happy to be able to enjoy his content here in Europe!
NA only? Like in the 90s with SNES(and other consoles) games being released only in NA without full worldwide release in PAL regions. That sucks. We livin' in 202X, why games can't be released in both NA and PAL regions on the same day?! That annoys me!
Is this a 'so bad it's good' kind of game? Seems as if they were hellbent on releasing it on 3DS as some sort of gimmick, because it would have got lost in the shuffle on the Switch. Not to completely tarnish a solo devs work of course, but seems a bit curious, no?
@Vyacheslav333
According to Sungrand, Nintendo EU shut down developers from submitting game builds much earlier than NA. Also, Nintendo Japan required developers to have a physical office/address somewhere in Japan in order to release 3DS/Wii U games, putting them off the table as well. Sungrand is based in Australia, and wasn't even even able to launch there!
This much be a Guinness World Record or something. I don’t think there has ever been a game released this close to a store closure before, and an 18 day window at that.
Neat. I wonder if any other indies have last minute games I haven't heard of yet to appear on either platform.
@Zisssou I’d have more respect for you if you just came out and said it was pointless 😂
I’m kidding, although I do agree with gimmick aspect for sure. Nothing other than bragging rights to say they released the last 3DS game ever!!!!*
*at least in NA
Props to this guy for getting these games out. He’s released quite a few on the 3DS, most of them over the last year, and they’re overall not bad. He’s definitely dedicated, that’s for sure.
@nukatha Oh, well... Understood. But, that doesn't change the history.
Before people start saying something sounds off, you need to realise that Nintendo had a deadline for submitting paper work to get anything submitted last year and Jerrel has managed to get Nintendo to nicely release this final title with an update launching straight after. Please do support the one man studio in NA if you can. I bought an American Wii U just to play Silver Falls and I'm glad I did, it was totally worth the experience. I thankfully also own an American New 3DS XLA so planning on getting the final title too next week.
@Vyacheslav333 Hi, the developer here. I apologize for the games not being able to launch in Europe. Nintendo stopped accepted new games a long while ago. After people got upset due to the announcement of 3DS and Wii U eShop closer, I personally asked Nintendo if they could hold the door open long enough for me to make some last minute games to make the situation better for those 3DS and Wii U users. Nintendo had no obligation to say yes, but they supported me in my endeavor to make these final games. Unfortunately, Europe's business processes had to move forward and they couldn't hold the door open long enough. That's not Nintendo's fault; the made massive efforts to support me. It just goes to show what a huge deal it is that Nintendo of America was able to launch these final games; they just about moved mountains to create an exceptional circumstance to bring these final games to 3DS and Wii U.
@Zisssou Hi, the developer here. Feel free to check out our launch party for our Wii U games, where I play a number of our games we launched recently: https://youtube.com/live/SQrXmJGAx9U You can check out the other videos on the channel and see the games for yourself. You can also check in with the player playing and enjoying the games in discord or wherever and judge for yourself if you think the games are "so bad they're good". In fact, if you'd like to DM me, I'll get you download codes so you can play the games and judge for yourself.
@PessitheMystic Hi, developer here. I have no interest in bragging rights. I worked hard and made these final games to give people something and help them feel better about the end of the 3DS and Wii U eShops.
@JDulay I appreciate what you're doing here, giving the eShop one last "Hurrah! and allowing it to go out with a bang!
While I haven't actually PLAYED any of your games (Horror games aren't typically my thing), I DO own all of you're 3DS releases, and plan on getting the Switch games at some point (I don't have a Wii U, and have no interest in getting one right now).
I'm eagerly anticipating these last two 3DS games, and am looking forward to whatever you make in the future! Thank you for all of the dedication you're putting into this! I just hope that all the time and effort you're putting into these "Last Minute" releases is considered worthwhile, since they're not going to be available for long...
@JDulay Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I'm in the EU region, so I won't be able to play it. I didn't mean any disrespect to your games, as they seem very much like Deadly Premonition to me, which I very much like (a little bit of charm/jank).
@Zisssou That's a shame. I apologize I couldn't get the game out to you. I submitted the games but unfortunately Nintendo Europe couldn't hold the door open long enough for us and that window of opportunity closed while the games were in the approval process. Deadly Premonition has its own unique charm, and it would be disinengious if I tried to copy that with my games. The Silver Falls series has its whole own style going on. Hopefully you might be interested in checking out my upcoming Switch games. I did just bring our previously NA 3DS exclusive game, Ghoul Busters, to Switch for all regions, due to popular demand.
@Zisssou No, it's genuinely good
@Handheld_TrifectAce make sure you play Ghoul Busters; it's horror in context, but it's an amazing platformer experience through and through
@JDulay Thanks for being the coolest dude around, Jerrel! Your games are a treasure.
@Vyacheslav333 Blame Nintendo; Nintendo of Japan and Nintendo of Europe are less dedicated to the fans and customers than Nintendo of America is.
Despite I live in Europe I have a US N3DS XL so I bought all Silver Falls games!I
I love Ghoul Busters as I was grown via Gameboy games back in the early 90's! Also SF 3 Down Stars is an excellent (Alone in the Dark vibes) game. My last Purchase was SF Guardians and Metal Exterminations that utilizes very well the 3DS second screen! All these games uses Stereoscopic 3D very well, so I 'm very glad to purchase them!It was worth it every single penny!
@ImpactGameStation Same here! I just found and bought a US WIIU console just to play those exclusive USA SF Games. I was really sad as I wanted so bad to play it!Thank god my US WiiU console it's on the way for my country!I can't wait enough to play SF White inside its Umbra and Undertakers. These games has a unique gameplay style and utilizes the gamepad wonderfully! Ι couldn't be happier!!
@JDulay Once upon a time I wrote a comment on your YouTube channel. That if you manage to release these games, the 3DS/WiiU community will support you to the bone. That's what we do! A big thank you for being able to release all these games on 3DS and WiiU.
@Guile brilliant, feel free to check out gameplay of both Wii U games online 🙂
