Beauty by PopSugar is a new collection of products with a focus on buildable, easy to use products. They sent me a few of their lip products, which I’ll be reviewing today! Usually I don’t write about new releases since I mainly use makeup for Instagram. But hey, I’m trying to actually be a good beauty blogger for once!
The collection is launching this Sunday, March 11 and will be available at Ulta.
Firstly, can we talk about the packaging? I love that it’s clean and fresh. Also, the flowers were painted by a South African artist named Magrikie Berg, which I think is pretty cool. We don’t often see illustrations featured on cosmetics packaging!
Okay, onto the swatches and reviews now! The Sweet Stx Satin Matte Lip Colors are a traditional kind of crayon lipstick. They took some building up to be opaque, but that’s pretty standard with crayon lipsticks. I don’t think it’s a con, though – it just means you can use the same product to look as natural or as glam as you’d like!
If I could recommend just one of these, it’d be the Be Sweet Tinted Lip Balm. It applies sheer like the Sweet Stx lipsticks, though it doesn’t build up as opaque. It wears off really nicely, so you don’t have to worry about touching up if you don’t want to. Bonus that it has an SPF of 15 – remember that your lips need sun protection, too!
The Be Racy Liquid Velvet Lip isn’t so much a liquid lipstick, but not so much a traditional bullet lipstick either. It’s a great middle ground – not as drying as a liquid lipstick, but wears longer than a cream lipstick, and super easy to touch up since it doesn’t completely dry down. The only thing I don’t like about this is the applicator, since it felt hard and scratchy.
Overall, I like these! That being said, I haven’t tried a lot of crayon lipsticks or tinted lip balms, so take that as you will. None of these leave my lips feeling like they’ve been run over by a truck (or ten, to be completely honest) – anyone else excited about the comeback of cream lipsticks?
