Sam recently wrote a post like this and I thought I’d snag the idea from her. If you haven’t noticed – which I’m sure you have – I haven’t been active on this blog last month. February was busier than usual for me in terms of work, and sometimes… blogging isn’t fun for me. I have a love/hate relationship with blogging. I love coming up with new ideas, writing, and interacting with everyone. But at the same time, it can be stressful and this little blog just doesn’t take priority when I’ve got my hands full.
Blabbering aside, this is going to be a short and sweet type of post. I think it’d be a fun way to ease myself back by running down the list, instead of going into a whole spiel about it. So yeah, if I could only keep one product from each makeup category (which I hope will never have to happen!), these would be it.
Primer: I don’t use primers anymore, but if I had to pick for this category I’d go for the Too Faced Hangover Rx Primer. It’s hydrating and simple and works for me!
Foundation: None! Haven’t used foundation in years and I don’t plan on it anytime soon… or in the distant future, to be honest.
Concealer: NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer in Custard. The Radiant Creamy Concealer used to be my HG for years, but the Soft Matte wins in the packaging department because I can get every last bit out.
Blush: Bite Beauty Multistick in Cashew. It’s my go-to blush on my no-makeup makeup days, and it can double up as a lipstick and eyeshadow!
Bronzer/Contour: Dolce & Gabbana Blush in Tan 22. It’s marketed as a blush, but it’s definitely a contour shade. It’s on the ashy/cool side, which makes it a perfect contour shade, and is really buildable. I don’t even know if they make this anymore, sadly. It’s still being marketed on their website, but I can’t find it online anywhere… maybe it’s only available in-store?
Highlight: Kat Von D Thunderstruck. While it’s marketed as an eyeshadow, it’s stunning as a highlighter. It has the most beautiful pinky-gold shift and even though it’s super soft (read: will shatter if dropped) I’ve never seen a shade like this before. It’s making me slightly nervous since it’s on sale, and… maybe will be discontinued? Buying some backups as we speak (type?) just in case!
Notice that I do have ABH Starlight highlighter in the photo, which is a close second. I ended up changing my mind at the last minute, hah.
Eyeshadow Palette: I’m gonna cheat here and say the Sugarpill Pro Palette, because it’s highly customizable and I can put all the bright shades I want in there. If you’re curious what shades I’d choose, they’d be Love+, Buttercupcake, Flamepoint, Poison Plum, Mochi, Hotsy Totsy, Pumpkin Spice, Acidberry, Velocity, Suburbia, Bulletproof, and Castle on the Hill!
Eyeliner: Tarte Tarteist Clay Paint Liner. I like gel liners, but other than that I’m not too picky. I like that this one comes in a tube. It has a well built into the packaging so it doesn’t dry out as easily as a traditional pot liner.
Brows: Anastasia Dipbrow in Ebony. You guys know that I love Glossier’s Boy Brow, but Dipbrow is so much more versatile and I can get a natural or bold brow, and anything in between. I can use this as dark brown liner or faux freckles, too. I’ve had my current pot for 3 or 4 years and I still have about 1/4 of it left!
Lashes: House of Lashes Siren Lashes. They’re longer in the middle and more of a clumpy lash. I love that I don’t have to cut them to adjust to my smaller eyes.
Lipstick: ABH Insomniac liquid lipstick. It’s a gorgeous muted teal, and I can use this for colored brows too! I can already use the Bite Beauty multistick I mentioned before as a lip color, so I thought I’d go all-out on the *actual* lip color. Are you seeing a pattern here? I like products that can be used in different ways!
Lipgloss: Fenty Gloss Bomb. It looks beautiful with any look, and it’s actually the bomb!
