Sephora 2017 VIB Sale Haul

It’s that time of the year again! The Sephora VIB sale is always something I look forward to, as I’m sure most of us do. Last year’s purchases qualified me for VIB Rouge for this year, so I got a bit of a head start which is nice! This is the first time in years that I’m not going to qualify for VIB Rouge for the upcoming year. Honestly though, it feels great! The only real perk for me was the 2-day free shipping. Now that you can buy it, $10 is a more than reasonable price.

I was very selective with my purchases this time, moreso than the previous years. There’s only one treat item, and everything else is either a backup or replacement of something I use on a regular basis. I wrote a post on how I cut down on making frivolous purchases, if you’d like to check it out!

To me, Fresh is the pinnacle of all things luxury, from the packaging to the product itself. The Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner has been on my radar for a while. I have dry skin, and finding a good hydrating toner that’s actually hydrating is hard. I’m somewhat familiar with Fresh’s rose line; I’ve tried a few deluxe samples and they all worked well with my skin. The timing seemed to be right since I literally finished my previous toner the night before this one arrived – how satisfying is that! I like the Fresh one a lot so far, and I’m curious of the differences between this one and the regular rose toner.

Here’s the little treat purchase from Tatcha that I wasn’t really planning on making. I wanted to get their Skincare for Makeup Lovers Obento Box at first; it comes with a full size of their Luminous Dewy Skin Mist and a few minis for $10 more than the standalone mist. But like most sets, it sold out fast and I wasn’t able to get my hands on it. I decided it’d be worth the single purchase for those special days that I actually wear a full face of makeup outside the house. So far I’ve been using it to supplement my skincare routine and my skin looks and feels so much better!

I recently talked about the Fresh Rose Mask, and was debating on getting a full size  since I actually ended up liking it a lot with regular use. It’s not something I need right away, so I decided to save it for the $20 off $50 sale for VIB that goes on in December. I have a couple of hydrating face masks to go through first, anyway!

The Bumble and Bumble Thickening Volume Hairspray is one of my all-time favorites. In fact, this is my third bottle! It comes with a misting spray nozzle which I like. I’m not a fan of aerosol sprays since that shit gets everywhere. It isn’t travel-friendly either, since there’s no way to decant it in a smaller bottle. Basically, this one’s a no-frills hairspray that works for me.

I’m running low on my current sea salt spray as well, so I picked up the Sephora Favorites Beachy Waves Sea Spray CollectionIt includes four travel-size sprays from a few different brands, and it’s valued at half of what I paid for which is nice! I can easily travel with any of them (duh) and I can probably leave one at my boyfriend’s place since we’re long distance, too.

Of course, the only way I’m going to floss regularly without my dentist reprimanding me is if it’s a ~luxury floss~. I’m a little ashamed to say Cocofloss shimmied its way into this haul. I reviewed it a little while ago and it’s a floss that stands out and actually gets the job done… so I bought three more.

I didn’t pick up the Duo Eyelash Adhesive because I forgot, but I’ll be getting that when the second part of the sale is live. A lot of people have a love/hate relationship with this particular eyelash glue – myself included. Does it smell like rotten fish? Yes. Does it work, though? Yes. I’ve always preferred the squeeze packaging over brushes. I sometimes enjoy gluing sequins and flowers on my face, so it’s a lot more convenient to be able to squeeze the glue onto a palette.

Did you or are you planning to get anything from the Sephora sale?

  • I mostly have a few dark lipsticks for fall/winter on my wishlist, and surprisingly no skincare because I have way too much in my current stash. I might also pick up the Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil heat spray since I’m running low, but I’m very tempted by their Thickening Volume Hairspray now…we shall see. Oh and the floss, I’m definitely adding one to my cart!

  • Amazing post, I love it, love the skin care products too. Thank you for sharing, waiting for the next exiting post!!!

  • Great haul! I was tempted to get the fresh toner too but I have too many in my collection atm to justify it lol. I love the bb thickening hairspray too! If you live near a cosmetics company outlet store they almost always have it there! It’s where I go to stock up on it. Oooh I’ll have to read your cocofloss review! I’ve seen it pop up at sephora and urban outfitters and have been tempted cause of the cute packaging XD

  • The Fresh Rose Mask sounds really lovely and totally worth picking up when on sale. This is such a fabulous skincare haul, and I’m super curious about Bumble and Bumble – keep hearing the name pop up online in reviews lately!

  • Ooo in curious about the fresh toner!! I’m kind of obsessed with anything rose scented so I think that’s another reason why I liked the mask so much!

  • I hate it when you know exactly what you’re going to buy in a sale but then something you were going to get sells out, it’s so annoying! And I’m obsessed with the Sephora Favourites sets because sometimes they have so many good products you want to try. I’m not that into hair stuff, but if I was I’d 100% get one of their sets so I could find my favourite product. I’m actually curious about the Ouai Wave Spray because I’m all about using hair products straight after washing and then letting my hair air-dry (aka I’m lazy) but no sea-salt type sprays have ever worked for me in the past, they’ve just left my hair feeling sticky and gross. I really want the Ouai one to be different but I don’t know if it is!

Good on you Becky for being so careful with what you’ve chosen to buy, I can imagine it can be hard not to go crazy in somewhere like Sephora, especially with a sale! The Rose Deep Hydration toner sounds so lovely, especially for dry skin like mine!

I was originally planning on getting a few things from the sephora sale, but ultimately decided not to as I’ve spent way too much already… and it’s not even halfway through the month. I was very tempted by the fresh rose toner when I first saw it, but as I’m trying to phase out toners from my routine, it’s probably not a very savvy choice… but that doesn’t stop me from fawning over it and reading all the amazing reviews!
