lip balm favorites - glossier balm dotcom, jack black lip therapy, bite beauty agave lip balm review

Lip balm is probably my weakness.

I have a jar chock full of lip balms sitting next to me on my desk, and I have a couple more scattered throughout my bags. I’m fully aware that if I stuck to using just one, I’m not going to finish it anytime soon. But I’m also in denial that I’m hoarding lip balms, so there’s that. Did I mention lip balm is probably my weakness?

Even so, there are a couple that I always go back to, or multiples just because I loved the originals so much. There’s also something a little satisfying about having different flavors of my favorite lip balm – anyone else feel the same way?

My first high end lip care purchase was the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask. It holds a spot in my heart because of that. This was my go-to before Balm Dotcom came into my life. It’s pricey, but I got so much use out of it and felt like royalty every time. I applied it every night and I woke up with soft and hydrated lips. I really appreciate that it tastes sweet from the agave, for the times that I accidentally lick it or apply too much that some ends up in my mouth. I hope I’m not the only one in the latter category. It’s super thick, so it’s harder to get it out of the tube in the winter. It’s a minor inconvenience though, and I still love it to bits.

I mentioned the GlossierBalm Dotcoms (click here for 10% off your first Glossier order!) in my current beauty favorites post, and I kind of hate that I love these. Glossier’s one of those brands that I want to hate, but I just don’t. I apply Balm Dotcom almost every night before going to bed and I always wake up with soft and smooth lips. Heck, I keep one on my bed because I’m so lazy that I literally debate for a few minutes whether I should get up before actually getting up to put it on whenever I forget. The only downside is that it separates a little in the tube when it’s hot, so there’s some liquid when squeezed out. Even so, I think I like these even more than the Bite Agave lip balm, and that hurts a lot to say.

I don’t love the Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm, but I don’t hate it either. I use it every morning and throughout the day purely because it’s a sunscreen – I’m super mindful of sun damage on my face and I want to stay forever young, okay? That being said, this doesn’t really do anything for me and it just sits and slips around on top of my lips without being absorbed. It works in a pinch for protection against the elements, but it doesn’t do much in terms of soothing dry lips. It sounds like I hate these, but I don’t – I always have one in my bag and I always repurchase it when I run out because sunscreen.

  • Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask has been in my to buy list since forever but I never got around to it. Maybe I’ll finally remember to pick it up during this upcoming Sephora VIB sale in November.

    • Lately I’ve been feeling not really excited about new makeup and stuff, so it feels really weird that most of my sephora vib purchases are repurchases, lol. I feel like lip balm is kind of one of those mundane things that aren’t super exciting to buy, so I can see why you’ve never gotten around to it!

My lips are dry af, so I kind of hate that I need lip balm, but I love to try different brands. I do love to have different flavors of my favorite – that is, if I can find a favorite. I have the original balm dot com, & I sooo want all of them, but I feel like I should expand my lip balm reach, lol. (btw, I totally know what you mean about wanting to hate Glossier but can’t!) I heard basalt has a good lip balm though, so I’m thinking of trying that out next!

    • Woah, I haven’t heard of basalt before but I just googled it and it looks so nice and sleek! I want the cherry and coconut balm dotcoms, so I might as well just get the rest to fill in the collection, haha.

  • I totally hoard lip balms as well, though most of mine come in pots/jars…which you think would deter me from getting more due to how annoying they are to use, but nope! I think the Dior Creme de Rose will always be a bedside staple for me, though I’ve really been loving the ones by Emile Cordon lately as well. Also, your review on the Glossier Balm Dotcom makes me want to try them now, especially since I love the birthday cake scent!

    • Oh, I’ve heard so many things about the Dior Creme de Rose! Seems like a cult favorite. I personally don’t really like pots/jars cause I don’t really like dipping my fingers in the entire thing/getting little bits of dust and lint in it, lol.

  • my true love is carmex, hands down haha just because i feel like it absorbs well and i love that it’s instantly make my lips felt smooth. currently i’m alternating between vaseline lip therapy (petroleum jelly) and lip ice repair and treatment. i’m really curious over nuxe reve de miel lip balm and glossier balm dotcom! definitely will go for the birthday one if i ever purchase it.

i used to hoard lipbalms but now i don’t since people kept telling i need to wear lipstick or else i look dead not that i’m not dying inside /cries

    • Aaaah, I remember really liking carmex in high school! Mostly because it was jellylike and all the other balms I’ve used were in chapstick form haha. I’ve heard lots of bloggers/vloggers/beauty people in general talking about the nuxe reve de miel one!! iirc it comes in a pot and I don’t like dipping my fingers into pots and getting little bits of dust and hair in it :p

I like tinted lip balms too! I have a few from korres and they’re nice (unfortunately they come in a little pot lol), though I have to apply a rather thick layer for the color to show up decently. It’s good for the winter I guess!

  • I’ve wanted that bite beauty one for so long! I’m addicted to lush honey trap lip balm and also I pretty much just slather my lips with aquaphor at night. But you make me want a lip balm collection of my own haha!

  • I’m seriously all about the Nivea lip balm from the drugstore so I always keep it handy and repurchase backups at all times! I want to try out the Bite and Glossier one at some point!

  • Lip balm is my weakness! Damn my perpetual cracked lips! I need to try Glossier cause I’ve heard such great things about their brand. I’ve mostly stuck to Burt Bees lip balm, but I use it up so quickly since I would just apply it every five minutes! Haha

I feel lip balm hoarding is completely justifiable, because then you can keep one in every bag and not have to worry about forgetting and leaving them at home 😀

  • I absolutely love lip balms. I hate the feeling of dry lips. I’ve haven’t tried any of these but they all sound so great! x
