Lip balm is probably my weakness.
I have a jar chock full of lip balms sitting next to me on my desk, and I have a couple more scattered throughout my bags. I’m fully aware that if I stuck to using just one, I’m not going to finish it anytime soon. But I’m also in denial that I’m hoarding lip balms, so there’s that. Did I mention lip balm is probably my weakness?
Even so, there are a couple that I always go back to, or multiples just because I loved the originals so much. There’s also something a little satisfying about having different flavors of my favorite lip balm – anyone else feel the same way?
My first high end lip care purchase was the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask. It holds a spot in my heart because of that. This was my go-to before Balm Dotcom came into my life. It’s pricey, but I got so much use out of it and felt like royalty every time. I applied it every night and I woke up with soft and hydrated lips. I really appreciate that it tastes sweet from the agave, for the times that I accidentally lick it or apply too much that some ends up in my mouth. I hope I’m not the only one in the latter category. It’s super thick, so it’s harder to get it out of the tube in the winter. It’s a minor inconvenience though, and I still love it to bits.
I mentioned the GlossierBalm Dotcoms (click here for 10% off your first Glossier order!) in my current beauty favorites post, and I kind of hate that I love these. Glossier’s one of those brands that I want to hate, but I just don’t. I apply Balm Dotcom almost every night before going to bed and I always wake up with soft and smooth lips. Heck, I keep one on my bed because I’m so lazy that I literally debate for a few minutes whether I should get up before actually getting up to put it on whenever I forget. The only downside is that it separates a little in the tube when it’s hot, so there’s some liquid when squeezed out. Even so, I think I like these even more than the Bite Agave lip balm, and that hurts a lot to say.
I don’t love the Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm, but I don’t hate it either. I use it every morning and throughout the day purely because it’s a sunscreen – I’m super mindful of sun damage on my face and I want to stay forever young, okay? That being said, this doesn’t really do anything for me and it just sits and slips around on top of my lips without being absorbed. It works in a pinch for protection against the elements, but it doesn’t do much in terms of soothing dry lips. It sounds like I hate these, but I don’t – I always have one in my bag and I always repurchase it when I run out because sunscreen.
